Vinted Listing

Page

Improving the Vinted listing experience by reducing cognitive effort when writing product descriptions.

Role: Product/UX Design

Tools: Figma/Figma make

—— Problem Statement

“Frequent Vinted sellers experience cognitive fatigue when repeatedly writing product descriptions, slowing down listing creation and reducing motivation to continue selling.”

Why it matters?

If listing items feels slow or tiring, sellers may stop listing products reducing marketplace supply and overall platform activity.

User Insights

User discussions on Reddit revealed that

sellers find writing descriptions the most

tiring part of listing items, especially when

uploading several products.

This highlights an opportunity to reduce

effort in the description step.

This can lead to:

  • Slower listing creation

  • Repetitive effort when listing multiple items

  • Sellers abandoning the listing process

Jobs to be done:

When I am listing multiple clothing items,
I want help drafting clear descriptions quickly,
so that I can publish listings faster without feeling mentally drained.

Key activities:

  • Lists multiple items during wardrobe clean-ups

  • Finds writing descriptions repetitive

  • Wants listings to look clear and trustworthy

  • Prefers quick, low-effort listing creation

Exploration & Design decisions

  1. AI auto-generating full listings

Rejected because it removes user control and may create incorrect information.

  1. Description scoring

Rejected because scoring could introduce pressure instead of reducing effort.

  1. Multiple-step listing flow

Rejected because it disrupts the familiar listing experience for existing sellers.

  1. AI adding missing details for description

Rejected due to risk of inaccurate product information.

Solution

AI-Assisted Description writing integrated into

the existing listing flow to help sellers write

descriptions faster while maintaining full

control.

  • Refine rough text (Refine with AI)

  • Regenerate suggestions

  • Confidence indicator

Flow Analysis

Manual description (current flow):

Upload photos

Title

Description

Categories

Publish Listing

Pain point: Sellers must manually write descriptions for every item, creating repetitive cognitive effort, while AI only suggests categories after the description is written.

AI Assisted Description (redesign flow):

Upload photos

Title

Categories

AI-Assisted Description

Publish Listing

Improvement: Uploaded photos and category details help generate AI assisted descriptions, reducing writing

effort.

Reflections

This project explored how small AI-assisted interactions can reduce cognitive effort in repetitive tasks while preserving user control.

Key Takeaways:

1. AI works best as an assistive tool, not full automation.

2. Maintaining the existing listing flow helps preserve user familiarity.

3. Even small improvements in repetitive tasks can significantly improve the overall user experience.

*This is a condensed version of the case study. I’d be happy to discuss additional explorations and design decisions in detail.
